TEHRAN, Iran, July 4. Iran is seeking to increase cargo transit and connect neighboring countries, said the chairman of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce Yahya Al Eshagh, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"Iran has the necessary facilities for transit and the country can transform into a regional hub. The priority of the Iranian government is to develop and increase foreign trade, " he said.
Al Eshagh went on to say that the officials are intended to develop ties in economic, cultural, and social ties with neighbors.
He pointed out that the government is interested to expand ties with Russia, China and Iraq, and other countries.
According to the official, Iran and Russia's trade is expected to grow from $1 billion to $4 billion in the future as trade between Iran and Iraq could expand to $20 billion.
