BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 12. The volume of cabotage products loaded and unloaded at the eastern ports of Iran’s Hormozgan Province for the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2022), increased by 424 percent compared to the same period of the last Iranian year, Director of Shahid Bahonar Ports and Maritime Department, Hamid Reza Mohammad Hosseini said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
According to Mohammad Hosseini, a total of 147,250 tons of non-oil products were moved via cabotage in the east ports of the Hormozgan Province in 6 months.
“In general, about 1.23 million tons of both oil and non-oil products, including crude oil and related products, essential products, fruits and vegetables, construction materials, and so on, were loaded and unloaded in the east ports of the province within the mentioned period,” he said.
The director also noted that 9,812 ships docked in the east ports of Hormozgan Province during the mentioned six months. Of this, 129 ships have a capacity of more than 1,000 tons, while 9,683 ships have a capacity of less than 1,000 tons.
According to the official, more than 1.6 million passengers were transported through the east ports of the province from the beginning of the current Iranian year to the middle of the 7th month (March 21 through October 7, 2022).
