BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 9. The Russian PEC (Project Engineering Center) company, a multi-service logistics operator, informed Trend about the opening of a branch in Baku this week.
According to the company, the branch's launch will reduce the delivery time of goods between Russia and Azerbaijan by 1.5 times.
Furthermore, the company plans to increase the volume of shipments to Azerbaijan by 60 percent by the end of this year and launch transit routes between Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and Iran.
The company also emphasized that, in response to the growing demand, it provided regular weekly road transportation of combined cargo between Russia and Azerbaijan.
Besides, the company offers express delivery services via air transport.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan Alim Bayel said this week that the common task of the two countries is the joint development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor).
Meanwhile, the Port of Baku noted that 245,000 tons of non-ferrous metal products were transshipped through it from January through July 2023, which is 85 percent higher year-on-year.
According to the port's data, the bulk of metal products (aluminum, zinc, and cathode copper) were received by the port from Kazakhstan.
Moreover, this week, the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) pointed out that EU countries exported cars and other motor vehicles to Azerbaijan, intended to carry less than 10 people and worth 131.4 million euros from January through June 2023, which is a growth of two times in value terms compared to the same period in 2022.
The top three exporters from January through June this year were Germany with 57.05 million euros (growth by 1.9 times), Slovakia with 37.09 million euros, and Italy with 16.1 million euros (growth by 2.3 times).
Azerbaijan Railways CJSC said that for the new school year, eight additional routes will be assigned to the Absheron ring railway line.
Thus, on the Baku-Khirdalan-Sumgayit line, two additional routes in the morning hours and one in the evening hours are assigned, and on the Baku-Pirshaghi-Sumgait line, one additional route in the evening hours is assigned. Two additional routes are assigned to the Sumgayit-Khirdalan-Baku line in the morning hours, and two additional routes are assigned to the Sumgayit-Pirshaghi-Baku line in the evening hours.
