ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 18. The volume of rail transport between Turkmenistan and Russia along the North-South International Transport Corridor from January through August this year increased by 57 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

This was stated by the Chief Executive Officer of Russian Railways Logistics JSC, Dmitry Murev at the Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok (Russia).

According to him, the volume of this railway traffic is currently growing, in particular through border crossings between Turkmenistan and Iran.

Murev noted that it is possible to predict with confidence the further strengthening of Turkmenistan's role in the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor and an increase in the volume of rail transport.

Meanwhile, earlier, the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM), together with Russian Railways Logistics, launched the transportation of containers from the Selyatino railway station in the Moscow region of Russia to the Iranian Bandar Abbas port as part of the development of the eastern branch of the North-South International Transport Corridor.
