The Kazakh government allocated 3 billion tenge (about $ 20 million) to eliminate the consequences of riots in Zhanaozen and to restore the city, the Kazakh presidential press-service said today.
Mass riots occurred in Zhanaozen on Dec. 16. About 15 people died and about 100 were injured.
The buildings and cars were burned. The property of physical and legal entities was destroyed.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev announced a state of emergency on December 17.
According to the Kazakh President's order, the governmental commission on Zhanaozen was created.
The commission must determine the amount of damage and take prompt actions to resolve the socio-economic, humanitarian and other problems that have arisen in connection with the riots in the city of Zhanaozen.
