BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 2. Kazakhstan extends the agreement on the transportation of Russian oil to China, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.

The agreement will run through January 1, 2034.

Within the framework of the agreement, Kazakhstan will transit around 10 million tons of Russian oil to China via the Atasu - Alashankou oil pipeline.

Oil transit is carried out by Russia's Rosneft and Kazakhstan's KazTransOil.

The agreement has been in effect since January 1, 2014.

Meanwhile, as Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov has announced at a briefing, Kazakhstan intends to develop alternative oil export routes.

"The focus will be on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM) in the direction of the ports of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, as well as export destinations to China and Iran," he said.
