BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Trade turnover of Kazakhstan with the EAEU [Eurasian Economic Union] countries amounted to $6.6 million from January through February 2023, which is 11.6 percent more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports via the Bureau of National Statistics of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan.
In the reporting period, Kazakhstan's exports totaled $2.59 million (an increase of 41.5 percent year-over-year), while imports amounted to $4.03 million (a decrease of 1.8 percent).
Among the EAEU member states, Russia remains Kazakhstan’s top trade partner, with 92 percent of the total trade. Kazakh exports to Russia increased to $3.8 billion from $1.68 billion a year earlier.
Russia is followed by Kyrgyzstan with 4.7 percent of the total trade, Belarus (3.2 percent), and Armenia (0.1 percent).
The largest share of exports to EAEU countries accounted for machinery, equipment, vehicles, devices, and apparatuses, totaling 29.4 percent. It is closely followed by products from the chemical and related industries (25.2 percent of the overall exports).
In terms of imports from the EAEU countries, the largest share fell on products of animal and plant origin and ready-to-eat food (20.8 percent). The share of metals and metal products accounted for 18.5 percent of imports, while mineral products - 13 percent.
