BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31. A Memorandum of intent to export electricity from Kyrgyzstan to China was signed at the meeting of Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR) Communist Party Ma Xingrui, Trend reports via the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan.

Following the negotiations, the sides also signed a Memorandum of intent to construct a China-Kyrgyzstan 500 KW power transmission line and small hydropower plants.

The parties reached an agreement on the establishment of a business council between the Chinese XUAR and Kyrgyzstan and signed a protocol of intent on the establishment of sister city relations between the Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan and XUAR.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on medical cooperation with the Second Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, and a contract to purchase cars from China.

According to the State Statistics of Kyrgyzstan, the country exported 81,100 kWh to Kazakhstan in January 2023.

Meanwhile, the country exported electricity to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in 2022.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan exported 457 million kWh of electricity in 2022. Of them – 301 million kWh were to Kazakhstan, and 155 million kWh to Russia.
