Passenger transportation by railway, air decreases in Kyrgyzstan in 1Q2023

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. Kyrgyzstan’s passenger transportation by railways and air transport amounted to 314,900 people from January through March 2023, which is almost 13 percent less than 361,600 people in the same period of 2022, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the committee, passenger transportation by air in the country in 1Q2023 reached 264,100 people, decreasing by near 13 percent year-on-year (303,100 people in 1Q2022).

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan’s railways transported a total of 50,800 people in the specified period. The figure decreased by almost 13 percent compared to 58,500 people in 1Q2022.

Overall, passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan exceeded 136.4 million people in 1Q2023, which is a 4.5-percent or 5.8 million people increase year-on-year (130.5 million people in 1Q2022).

As the statistics reports, the main share of passenger transportation in Kyrgyzstan (93 percent) accounted for road transport (buses, taxis and trolleybuses) in the reporting period.

Increase in passenger transportation was registered in all regions of the country.
