BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, July 7. Gazprom sees great potential for the development of cooperation in the gas field with Kyrgyzstan, the Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom, Alexey Miller, said, Trend reports.
This was said during his meeting with the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, as part of Japarov's one-day working trip to St. Petersburg, Russia.
Miller emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is a reliable partner of Gazprom. "We have very strong relations in the energy sector and in the field of gas cooperation. We see great potential for the development of this cooperation," he noted.
In turn, Japarov pointed out that the comprehensive cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Gazprom is deepening and progressing along the path of consistent development.
During the meeting, the main issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia in the field of gas supply were discussed. Japarov expressed his gratitude to Gazprom for the significant contribution to the fuel and energy cooperation between these countries.
At the end of the meeting, the parties had a substantive discussion on the further steps of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Gazprom in the near future, including the implementation of socially significant projects in the territory of Kyrgyzstan by Gazprom.
As a result, both sides agreed on the necessity of continuing constructive and fruitful work in the mutually beneficial cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Gazprom.
For the last 8 years, Gazprom Kyrgyzstan has been dealing with the supply and sale of natural gas in the country.
Due to the company's operations, in 2022, gasification in Kyrgyzstan amounted to 38 percent, compared to 22 percent in 2014. At the moment, gas has been connected to 45,000 households.
