Kyrgyzstan's trade with China increases y-o-y

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 14. Trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and China amounted to $2.229 billion, accounting for 33.3 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade from January through June 2023, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of the country, the trade volume between the two countries increased by 28.6 percent compared to the same period in 2022 ($1.733 billion). China emerged as Kyrgyzstan's primary trading partner in the first half of the current year.

Kyrgyzstan's imports from China reached $2.196 billion, accounting for 40.7 percent of Kyrgyzstan's total imports. This value increased by 28.8 percent year-on-year, up from $1.705 billion in the first half of 2022.

The country's exports to China totaled $33.044 million (2.5 percent of Kyrgyzstan’s total exports), marking an increase of 18.2 percent compared to $27.960 million in the corresponding months of the previous year.

Overall, Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $6.7 billion from January through June 2023, representing a 31 percent increase compared to the first half of 2022 ($5.1 billion).

Kyrgyzstan's exports totaled $1.306 billion, a 34.6 percent increase over the $970.5 million recorded from January through June 2022.

The country's imports reached $5.398 billion, marking a 30.3 percent increase compared to the same months of the previous year ($4.142 billion).
