WFP shares details of humanitarian aid provided to Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 31. The UN World Food Program (WFP) extended humanitarian aid to a total of 4,086 individuals in Kyrgyzstan in July 2023, Trend reports.

According to the WFP, within this group, 48 percent were females, while 52 percent were males. WFP also distributed 71 tons of food assistance.

During the specified month, WFP completed 55 projects aimed at establishing or rehabilitating communal assets, enhancing food security and resilience of families with limited financial means.

In addition, 16 projects were implemented to improve community livelihood skills. As a result of these initiatives, 1,627 individuals received 44 tons of food, and a sum of $26,080 was provided to address their food needs. Funds were distributed through e-wallets. Additionally, 2,459 residents of Social Inpatient Institutions received 27 tons of food.

WFP has been actively involved in Kyrgyzstan since 2008 and currently operates under the Country Strategic Plan (2023-2027). According to this plan, Kyrgyzstan will receive support in the amount of $90 million for the implementation of various programs to overcome poverty and maintain food security.
