BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 13. Several projects between the business communities of Finland and Kyrgyzstan are currently underway, marking successful outcomes of the recent Kyrgyz-Finnish Business Forum 2023, the Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan in Finland, Petri Numminen, told Trend.
"The recent Kyrgyz-Finnish Business Forum 2023 has yielded promising results, demonstrating its success in fostering new partnerships and collaboration opportunities between Finnish and Kyrgyz enterprises," he said.
He didn't disclose the names of the Kyrgyz companies but did provide the names of the Finnish ones.
According to the Consul, Finnish Econet and EPSE, water and wastewater treatment companies, are on the verge of finalizing agreements and contracts in the water treatment and mining sectors in Kyrgyzstan.
Honka, a company known for producing ecological, high-quality houses and public buildings from Finnish wood, is close to finalizing a contract in the housing sector and preparing two additional ones with Kyrgyzstan.
JOT RENT and Captium, Finish companies involved in workforce rental and business development advisory, have successfully conducted fact-finding missions for operations in Kyrgyzstan.
The Consul also mentioned that the Finnish government is actively supporting various projects in Kyrgyzstan. This support includes backing a rule of law and human rights project executed by UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and providing assistance for an Aid for Trade project, also implemented by UNDP.
Additionally, he highlighted bilateral collaborations between the Finnish government and Kyrgyzstan, such as:
Support for a water quality project by the Finnish Environment Institute
Support for a natural resources project by the Geological Survey of Finland
Support for meteorology cooperation by the Finnish Meteorological Institute
The third formal gathering of businesspeople from Kyrgyzstan and Finland took place on August 28, 2023, during the Kyrgyz-Finnish Business Forum 2023. This event, which was sponsored by the UNDP's "Trade Promotion" project, provided a forum for discussing prospective areas of cooperation across a range of industries, including the green economy, energy, agriculture, food industry, light industry, construction, and more.
