BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 9. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) shared estimated data on the volume of Tajikistan's cereal production in 2021, Trend reports with the reference to the report of FAO.

According to the organization, Tajikistan's aggregate cereal output in 2021 is estimated at 1.4 million tons. Production of wheat set at a near-average level of 852,000 tons, while the outputs of maize were estimated at 240,000 tons and barley - at 196,000 tons in 2021.

Meanwhile, retail prices of first-grade wheat flour in Tajikistan climbed dramatically between February and April 2022, reaching levels that were more than 30 percent more than a year earlier.

The increase in wheat flour prices throughout the country was due to international wheat export bans in a number of subregional countries, including Kazakhstan - the country's biggest wheat exporter, as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.
