BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 27. Tajikistan is leading in terms of cement supplies to Uzbekistan in the first 8 months of this year, Trend reports citing the State Committee of Uzbekistan on Statistics.
According to the Committee, Tajikistan from January through August 2022 exported 625,000 tons of cement to Uzbekistan.
During this period, Uzbekistan also imported cement from other countries in Central Asia: Kyrgyzstan (458,000 tons), Kazakhstan (409,000 tons), and Turkmenistan (11,500 tons).
Thus, Tajikistan in the reporting period ranked first among the countries of the world in terms of cement exports to Uzbekistan.
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Industry of Tajikistan, the total volume of cement production from January through August 2022 throughout the country amounted to 2.9 million tons.
Currently, a total of 16 cement plants are operating in Tajikistan, with a total production capacity of 5.6 million tons of cement per year.
