BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is implementing the second phase of the "Towards Rural Inclusive Growth and Economic Resilience in Tajikistan (TRIGGER II)" project since 2019, a Spokesperson of GIZ, told Trend.

Under this project, GIZ since 2021 on the policy level, advises Tajik ministries for economic development and trade, agriculture, energy and water-related issues on policy reforms and the improvement of the efficiency of administrative processes.

"For example, we have trained staff members of the Ministry of Agriculture in computer literacy, digitalization and process optimization," the spokesperson said.

GIZ also assisted the ministries in developing a model of Tajikistan's agricultural sector, assisting them in analyzing variables such as production volume and price levels for various agricultural products in order to gain more planning reliability.

"The policy advice of GIZ contributed to the drafting of a Strategy of the Green Economy Development in Tajikistan 2022-2037 and the Strategy of Agrarian Reforms 2022-2030. These strategic documents include policies to obligate the agricultural sector to save water in order to better adapt to climate change," she added.

This project, which is due to finish in 2024, is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the EU since December 2020, works in agricultural and water-related areas to support Tajikistan's private sector and economic development.

GIZ has been working in Tajikistan since 1995, the priority areas of the German development agency are economic development, employment, environment and climate change and health.
