BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 3. The trade turnover between Tajikistan and Moldova totaled about $200,000 in 2022, which is $2.6 million less than in 2021, according to the Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan, Trend reports via Tajik media.

The trade turnover in the reporting period consisted only of imports, which was equal to $200,000.

The potential of the bilateral trade turnover and development of economic relations between the two countries were discussed following the fourth meeting of the intergovernmental Tajik-Moldovan Commission on economic, trade, and scientific and technical cooperation on April 3 in Dushanbe.

Participants noted that the current level of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Moldova does not meet the potential opportunities of both countries, emphasizing that the development of both economies creates favorable conditions for further strengthening of bilateral trade and economic relations.

The sides pointed out the need to increase the level of development of trade, economic and investment ties. It was proposed to strengthen cooperation through the organization of trade and economic changes in national legislation, including norms and rules of the trade regime, affecting the interests of both countries regarding privatization and investment opportunities, holding exhibitions, and other international economic events.

In addition, Tajikistan and Moldova exchanged information in the field of energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, investment policy, information technology, and communications, as well as in the field of new technologies.
