BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The value of foreign trade turnover in Tajikistan’s Khatlon region in the southwest of the country amounted to $96.5 million from January through March 2023, Khalton’s officials told local reporters, Trend reports via Tajik media.
During the mentioned period, exports from Khalton region totaled $36.2 million, while imports to the region reached $60.2 million. The officials said that the region's exports included yarn, electricity, cotton fiber, milk, and cement, while it imported mineral fertilizers, fuel, and sugar.
Furthermore, retail turnover in the region totaled 3.2 billion somoni ($293.2 million), growing by 15.3 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2022.
The volume of paid services in real prices rose to 602.1 million somoni ($55.1 million), which is an increase of 3.3 percent over the same period of 2022.
Overall, foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan exceeded $1 billion from January through February 2023, which is $124 million less than in the same period of 2022.
The main trading partners of Tajikistan were Russia (23.2 percent in foreign trade of Tajikistan), Kazakhstan (22.2 percent), and China (19.9 percent).
