BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 24. The value of humanitarian assistance provided to Tajikistan from January through March 2023 decreased by 2.7 times year-on-year, according to the State Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, Trend reports via Tajik media.

A total of 35 financing countries have provided Tajikistan with humanitarian assistance for $19.2 million in 1Q2023. In comparison, 44 countries send humanitarian supplies to Tajikistan in the first quarter of 2022.

According to the statistics, the weight of the provided aid was 10,300 tons, which is 2.1 times less than in the corresponding period of 2022.

Humanitarian aid to Tajikistan in 1Q2023 was mainly provided by the following countries:

China – 26.2 percent of Tajikistan’s total humanitarian aid;

Belgium – 17.8 percent;

The US – 15.8 percent;

Kazakhstan – 8.6 percent;

Russia – 7.9 percent;

Türkiye – 5.6 percent;

India – 2.9 percent;

Uzbekistan – 2.6 percent;

Denmark – 2.3 percent;

Germany – 2 percent.

Tajikistan received $141 million worth of humanitarian assistance from 59 countries in 2022.

Last year, China sent the most humanitarian assistance to Tajikistan (32.6 percent of the total) followed by the US (24.5 percent), followed by Belgium (6.5 percent of the total) India (5.2 percent), Russia and Japan (3.5 percent), the Netherlands, and Sweden (1.9 percent).

The humanitarian assistance included flour, vegetable oil, medicines, and other products.
