DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 5. Trade turnover between Tajikistan and Belarus amounted to $47.1 million from January through June 2023, which is an increase of 1.8 times year-on-year, Bakhtovar Safarzoda the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Belarus, said, Trend reports.
He emphasized that trade and economic cooperation are top priorities in the bilateral relations between the two countries. The range of traded goods has expanded, and the volume of mutual trade is increasing.
He noted that the trade turnover reached approximately $100 million in 2022, which is two times more than in 2021.
According to him, the increase in trade between the two countries in recent years has been facilitated by exhibitions showcasing Belarusian products, the establishment of assembly production for Belarusian agricultural machinery by "Agrotechservice" in Tajikistan’s Gissar city, the creation of joint ventures for elevator assembly, the implementation of projects related to dairy production, and the supply of trolleybuses to Dushanbe.
Additionally, he noted the importance of exports of agricultural and light industrial products from Tajikistan to Belarus.
Belarus and Tajikistan have signed over 100 agreements and treaties, with the foundational ones being the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation signed on April 5, 2000, and the Strategic Partnership Treaty between Tajikistan and Belarus signed on June 27, 2019.
