DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 13. Tajikistan plans to attract approximately $6.3 billion to the transport sector for implementation of new projects in the coming year, Trend reports.
Minister of Transport of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim made this announcement at the first meeting of heads of transportation departments of Central Asia, which is taking place in Tajikistan’s Dushanbe.
He said that these projects will significantly alter the pattern and structure of international freight flows, enhancing integration efficiency and economic growth.
Ibrohim further noted that active efforts are underway to efficiently use of the "Tajikistan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Türkiye - Europe" transport corridor, which will be the shortest route from China through the Central Asian region to Europe. According to him, this corridor contributes to the revival of the Great Silk Road and regional economic integration.
The meeting of Central Asian transport ministers is taking place for the first time within the frame of the fifth consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia, which will take place on September 14-15 in Dushanbe.
Following the meeting, the head of the transport departments of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan will adopt a Joint Communique.
