DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 13. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Tajikistan registered a 2.6-percent increase during the period from January through July 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the National Bank of Tajikistan shows that the CPI for food items rose by 3 percent over the same period, while for non-food items, it grew by 3.4 percent. At the same time, the CPI for services experienced a slight decrease of 0.5 percent during the same period.
Additionally, the Producer Price Index increased by 0.9 percent in the period from January through July 2023.
The National Bank of Tajikistan said that monthly inflation in the country stood at 0.3 percent for July 2023, with an annual inflation rate of 2.3 percent for that month.
For the year 2023, the National Bank of Tajikistan aims to maintain the inflation rate within the range of 6 percent (±2 percentage points), which is aligns with the targets set in previous years.
The Consumer Price Index is one of the indicators used to measure inflation. The CPI focuses on the changes in prices for specific goods and services, whereas inflation reflects the overall level of price increases in the economy.
