Turkmenistan, Pakistan to hold interparliamentary talks

A delegation led by Turkmen parliament’s Chairman Akja Nurberdiyeva will visit Pakistan’s capital Islamabad on Aug. 3-4, the Turkmen government said in a message Aug. 3.

The working visit is aimed at further development of the Turkmenistan-Pakistan interparliamentary relations.

Both countries noted the presence of potential for cooperation in various spheres of the economy, including in the fuel and energy sector, transport and communications.

Construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline and the creation of international transportation and communication corridors, formation of a multi-modal transportation system were particularly highlighted.

Construction of the TAPI pipeline’s Turkmen section began in December 2015.
