BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 19. The delegation of the Ministry of Energy of Iran headed by Deputy Minister of Energy Mohammad Javanbakht held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Energy of Turkmenistan Serdar Saparov in Ashgabat, Trend reports citing the Business Turkmenistan news agency.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the field of water resources and electricity, as well as ways to develop bilateral relations in these areas were discussed.

Within the framework of the dialogue, an agreement was reached to expand cooperation in the field of engineering and technical services, on the basis of which a delegation of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan will soon be sent to Iran to get acquainted on the spot with the wide potential of this country.

Following the meeting, the parties expressed interest in further expanding relations in the field of electric power.

Furthermore, Turkmenistan is actively integrating into the unified energy system of Central Asia and plays an important role in creating additional opportunities for further increasing the volume of supplies.

The country will increase electricity exports by 8.7 percent by 2025 and this will be facilitated by the construction of new power plants, transmission lines, modern transformer substations and distribution facilities.

Currently, Turkmen's electricity is supplied to Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
