BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium Sapar Palvanov in Brussels handed over to the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Kunio Mikuriya a document on Turkmenistan's accession to the International Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the WCO, as well as the country's participation in the organization's programs, including the career development program, which provides opportunities for training customs officials.

Palvanov spoke about the measures taken by Turkmenistan in the field of digitalization, including the launch of a single window system, which not only increase the efficiency of customs procedures, but also help to increase the transparency of customs and export-import operations.

The Secretary General expressed recognition to Turkmenistan for its efforts in modernizing customs procedures and expressed the readiness of the WCO to provide technical assistance and support to the country.

Mikuriya also noted that Turkmenistan's accession to the WCO Convention on the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System will further strengthen cooperation between the country and the organization.

The WCO is an intergovernmental organization that seeks to improve the efficiency of customs administrations around the world. Currently, 180 countries, including Turkmenistan, are members of the WTO.
