ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, November 22. The trade volume between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan reached $939.1 million from January through October 2023, reflecting a 12.3-percent increase compared to the corresponding period last year, which stood at $835.7 million, Trend reports.
The data from the Uzbek State Statistics Committee shows that in the initial ten months of the current year, Turkmenistan secured a position among the top 10 major foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan.
Turkmenistan recorded exports exceeding $795.5 million to Uzbekistan in the specified period, marking a 22.5-percent increase from the corresponding period in 2022, when it amounted to $649.1 million.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan experienced a 23 percent decline in imports from Uzbekistan, totaling $143.7 million during the period from January through October 2023, in contrast to the $186.6 million recorded in the same timeframe in 2022.
Uzbekistan's overall foreign trade turnover in the initial ten months of 2023 surpassed $50.97 billion, marking a 25.2 percent rise, equivalent to $10.25 billion, in comparison to the corresponding period in the preceding year.
Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in 2022 amounted to $926.3 million, which is 2.7 percent higher than in 2021.
