Turkmenistan unveils commodity exchange sales data

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 27. Turkmenistan held auctions on its State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange, where it sold raw materials totaling more than $46.1 million, Trend reports.

According to the exchange, this is about 40.1 percent lower compared to the previous reporting period, during which the cost of raw materials sold amounted to $77 million.

For foreign currency, representatives of the business circles of Türkiye, the UAE, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Malta purchased base oil, low-sulfur heating oil, liquefied gas produced at the enterprises of the Turkmennebit State Concern, as well as carbamide produced by the Turkmenhimiya State Concern.

Furthermore, other businessmen from Türkiye, Germany, and the UAE bought cotton yarn, licorice roots, and rhizomes on this exchange.

At the same time, local entrepreneurs purchased polypropylene, petroleum bitumen, and other materials for the domestic market, as well as handmade carpets and cotton yarn, totaling more than 19.6 million Turkmen manat ($5.62 million).

Last week's auctions of Turkmenistan's State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange yielded 21 transactions.

Meanwhile, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important body of state regulation for export-import operations.
