Uzbek President Islam Karimov has signed a resolution on the reconstruction, improvement and development of the Old City of Tashkent, he said at a session of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies.
The document envisages measures for the fundamental reconstruction, improvement and development of the Old City, calculated for the period up to 2020.
The state of the road and transport infrastructure, drinking water, sanitation, heating and electricity will meet up-to-date requirements and urban planning and sanitation standards, Karimov said.
Specific attention will be paid to the preservation of peculiarities and traditions of national architecture, the president added.
