The volume of cash in circulation in Uzbekistan reached 28.6 trillion soums ($2.6 billion) as of January 1, 2022, Trend reports citing the Uzbek Central Bank.
At the same time, the share of cash in the money supply decreased by 3 percent over the year.
In 2021, the issuance of cash from the cash desk of the banks increased by 75.3 trillion soums ($6.9 billion) compared to 2020.
The main part of this growth was formed due to an increase in the volume of cash withdrawals from bank cards and the volume of cash used to purchase foreign currency.
As of January 1, 2022, the share of cash in circulation in the total money supply amounted to 20 percent and decreased by 3 percent compared to the last year.
