Uzbekistan will prepare the strategy for the development of the electric car industry within the next three months, Trend reports via Uzbek media outlets.
The head of the country set the task to include in the strategy a program for the localization of the production of components and materials for electric vehicles, as well as to develop technical requirements and modern standards for them.
Previously, in October 2021 the Uzbek Central Asia Motors company announced that it plans to assemble several models of Chinese electric vehicles at the end of 2021. The project was estimated at $50 million.
The company expected that by the end of 2022 the plant in the Fergana region (Uzbekistan) would reach full capacity and produce 10,000 electric vehicles a year. Due to the insufficient number of charging stations in the country, at the first stage of production, all car models will be hybrid.
