BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 23. Uzbekistan has increased gold exports in January 2023, Trend reports via Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.
According to the statistics, in January 2023, Uzbekistan's exports of gold totaled $1.2 billion.
This figure increased 2 times, compared to the reporting period in 2022 ($586.6 million).
The committee notes that some 56.8 percent of the total export share accounts for gold exports.
Furthermore, earlier in November 2022, Uzbekistan relaunched gold exports for the first time since April of that year. During the reporting period, Uzbekistan's exports of gold totaled $556.7 million.
Uzbek gold export from January through November 2022 slightly decreased year-on-year to $3.5 billion from $4.1 billion over the same period last year. Due to the 7-month pause in exports, in 2022 the share of precious metal in Uzbekistan's exports decreased by 6.2 percent, compared to last year, from 26.5 to 20.3 percent.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s export value amounted to $2.08 billion in January 2023, while the country’s total foreign trade turnover during the reporting period totaled about $5.04 billion, increasing by 42 percent, compared to the first month of 2022 ($3.5 billion).
