Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor shares data on volume of timber products imported by Uzbekistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 6. Uzbekistan imported some 2,800 cubic meters of lumber and about 4,000 units of rounded logs and door leaves, from Russia’s Kostroma region, from January through February 2023, Trend reports via Russian Rosselkhoznadzor Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance.

According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, during the reporting period, the volume of lumber imported by Uzbekistan increased by 4.3 times per cubic meter, while rounded logs imports exceeded by 1.5 times in pieces, compared to the same period in 2022.

At the same time, Russia supplied Uzbekistan with a batch of animal feed additives with a total weight of 20 tons in February 2023.

Rosselkhoznadzor notes that, since 2015, some 32 tons of seed potatoes, 80 tons of soybean seeds, 1,995 tons of wheat, 1,560 units of corrugated cardboard, and 4,833 cubic meters of timber were supplied to Uzbekistan from the territory of Russia’s Ulyanovsk region.

Meanwhile, Russia was the largest foreign trade partner of Uzbekistan in January 2023. The trade turnover between the countries amounted to $688.4 million – an increase of 19.7 percent compared to the reporting period in 2022 – $574.9 million.

Russia’s imports from Uzbekistan in the reporting period made up $218.8 million, increasing by 20.1 percent over January 2022 ($182.1 million), while exports amounted to $469.6 million. Russia imported from Uzbekistan some 15,300 tons of fruit and vegetables worth $16.8 million, and textile products worth $102.7 million, etc.
