BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 17. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is going to provide financial and advisory services within the power distribution project in Uzbekistan's Tashkent, Trend reports via the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
The relevant agreement for a $300 million power distribution project was signed between the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade and the IFC during the 32nd Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors held in Uzbekistan's Samarkand on May 16-18.
Uzbekistan became a member of IFC in 1993. Since 1996, IFC invested $120 million to support 31 private sector projects in the financial, agribusiness and food sector.
The 32nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) continues in Samarkand.
According to the program, 20 panel sessions, institutional events of the Bank and other events will be held today in the Congress Hall of the Samarkand Tourist Center.
Main topics include "New Investment Prospects of Uzbekistan", "EBRD in the field of production and services", "Mobilization of private capital through financial markets in Central Asia: Responding to Challenges", "Central Asia: towards Sustainable Energy" and others.
A number of signed investment agreements and contracts are also expected.
