TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 2. Uzbekistan expects increase in tourist flow amid the opening of a new airport opening in Zaamin, Trend reports.
“Zaamin is a place with huge tourism potential, which can be the main driver of Zaamin’s development”, said the governor of Jizzakh region Ergash Saliev.
Uzbekistan plans to attract up to 1.5 million domestic tourists and 140,000 foreign tourists a year to the region.
The opening of the airport will serve to increase employment of the population, in particular, in the areas of catering, hotel business, transport infrastructure and services.
Earlier this year, Uzbekistan has been elected as a member of the UNWTO Affiliate Members Committee for the period from 2023 through 2027. This committee, comprising over 500 private organizations and tourism associations worldwide, presents broad opportunities for the development of this sector in Uzbekistan.
