TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 30. Georgia has expressed its willingness to help entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan in the construction of ports and terminals on the Black Sea coast of Georgia, Trend reports.

The news followed a recent meeting between Georgia's Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili and Uzbekistan's Minister of Transport Ilkhom Makhkamov on the sidelines of the Silk Road Forum in Tbilisi.

Uzbekistan is planning the construction and long-term lease of sea terminals, as well as warehouses in the seaports of Georgia. The relevant memorandum was signed during the visit of the government delegation headed by Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov to Georgia in July of 2023.

Recognizing the potential for further expansion in their bilateral trade relations, both parties have also agreed to increase the number of exchanges of permit forms for international transportation.

Meanwhile, the volume of export-import traffic of Uzbekistan through the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi amounted to 864,000 tons in 2022. This figure marked a significant increase of 72 percent compared to the previous year, which saw 503,000 tons being transported.
