TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 3. Uzbekistan has already received about 300 million cubic meters of gas from Gazprom through Kazakhstan, Uzbek Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov said, Trend reports.
The remark was made during the XVI Verona Eurasian Economic Forum held in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand.
The minister stressed that Uzbekistan is uninterruptedly receiving Russian gas and that all contractual obligations between Uzbekistan and Gazprom are being fulfilled.
The Presidents of Uzbekistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan launched Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan on October 7. The gas supply agreement is designed for two years and provides for the supply of 2.8 billion cubic meters of gas per year. Transit is carried out via the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline.
Moreover, Uzbekistan and Gazprom signed a Memorandum on Cooperation in the Energy Sector earlier this month to develop cooperation in the field of gas supplies and transportation, as well as in the field of exploration and production of hydrocarbons.
The sides noted that a specially allocated route based on the Central Asia—Center gas trunk pipeline system is of great importance for stable energy supply to consumers in Uzbekistan, which is especially important in the autumn-winter period.
