TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, November 15. The volume of plastic bank cards in circulation amounted to 41.4 million as of October 1, 2023, Trend reports.
As per data provided by Uzbekistan’s Central Bank, the recorded number reflects a 30 percent increase compared to the same period last year, when the volume of cards fixed at 31.8 million.
Uzbekistan’s Xalq bank has become the local leader with the number of issued plastic cards exceeding 9 million.
Uzbek Agrobank ranked second with more than 4.3 million cards, with Ipoteka-bank closing the Top 3 with more than 3.5 million cards.
The top 10 of banks by the volume of issued plastic cards as of October 1, 2023 looks as follows:
Xalq bank - 9,020,937 cards
Agrobank - 4,301,416 cards
Ipoteka-bank - 3,565,977 cards
National bank - 3,211,082 cards
Ipak Yuli bank - 2,624,799 cards
Uzbek Industrial and Construction Bank - 2,289,643 cards
Hamkorbank - 2,008,185 cards
Anor bank - 1,669,686 cards
TBC bank - 1,600,173 cards
Aloqabank - 1,573,122 cards
Central Bank notes that among the 33 banks of Uzbekistan, the smallest number of cards issued into circulation was registered in Uzbekistan’s HAYOT BANK – 304.
Uzbekistan is actively promoting contactless payment systems by popularizing NFC technology in sales and service points throughout the country and by taking measures to provide QR codes in accordance with the requirements of trade and service points throughout the country.
