Tehran executes eight convicts for murder

Eight prisoners convicted of murder, including one woman, were hanged on Wednesday in Tehran, Fars news agency reported.

The eight were hanged in the Evin prison in northern Tehran after their death sentences had been confirmed by the Supreme Court.

Murder, rape, sabotage and drug-trafficking of quantities in excess of 5 kilograms are crimes punishable by death in Iran, reported dpa.
