Iran, Tajikistan to broaden mutual cooperation

Deputy Foreign Minister for Middle East and Commonwealth region Mohammad Raoof Sheibani on Tuesday submitted to Tajik President Emomali Rahmon a message from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, IRNA reported.

In the meeting, the Iranian envoy, conveyed the warm greetings of the Iranian president to his Tajik counterpart and described the prospects of both sides' relations in economic, transportations and energy fields as promising.

The Tajik president hailed the successful implementation of projects by Iranian experts in various sectors in Tajikistan.

Iran and Tajikistan have turned into real business partner, he said and called on the Iranian government to swiftly construct a hydro-electric power plant in Tajikistan.

Criticizing the interference of big powers in the internal affairs of other states, the Tajik president said such interventions under the guise of communism or terrorism should be stopped.

The two sides denounced double-standard policies of the western states regarding campaign against terrorism, human rights as well as regional and global developments.

Iran's Ambassador to Tajikistan, Ali Asghar Sherdoost who was present in the meeting, spoke on the projects being implemented by Iran in various economic and industrial sectors in Tajikistan.
