Head of Iranian Customs: Joining EAEU will lead to development of production in Iran
Baku, Azerbaijan, Mar. 28
By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:
Joining the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will result in the development of Iran's production, trade and economy, Mehdi Mirashrafi, head of Iran Customs Administration, said at the meeting with Reza Masrour, CEO of the Anzali Free Trade Zone, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
According to Mirashrafi, Iran attaches importance to trade with the Caspian littoral states and its neighbors.
The Iranian official, who called the EAEU a “100 percent” customs union, added that this union allows member countries to exchange their products without paying customs duties.
"The Anzali Free Trade Zone, especially the Kaspian port, can play a key role in this alliance with the appropriate infrastructure," he said.
Mirashrafi said that the Iranian Customs want to benefit from the capabilities of the EAEU, as well as that of the private sector operating in Iran’s free trade zones.
"The Anzali Free Trade Zone can play a transnational role in increasing the trade turnover with the EAEU and the Caspian littoral states," he said.
