By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran's North Azadegan and Yadavaran oilfields, which are shared with Iraq, will come on stream in the current Iranian fiscal year, which began on March 21, producing 170,000 barrels of oil per day, said Soltan Kamali, the managing director of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company.
The company is tasked with refining crude oil which is produced from oilfields shared with Iraq, Iran's Shana news agency quoted Kamali as saying May 25.
The first unit of a desalination plant will also come on stream in the current year, with 55,000 barrels per day capacity, he noted.
The company is projected to produce over one million barrels of oil per day by 2025 from 13 oilfields, including Azadegan and Yadavaran, he said.
Keramat Behbahani, North Azadegan oilfield's project manager, has said that the development plan of the field is expected to be completed in July 2015.
Once the project comes on stream some 75,000 barrels would be added to the country's total oil production capacity.
The Yadavaran oilfield reserve is estimated to be 34 billion barrels.
Upon the completion of the field's development plan, some 300,000 barrels of oil are expected to be pumped out on a daily basis.
The first phase of the Yadavaran oilfield is expected to come on stream by September 2015.
