The first container ship of the French CMA CGM shipping company will berth at Iranian southern port of Shahid Rajaei in early August, said Ebrahim Idani, director general of Iran's Hormozgan Province's Ports and Maritime Department.

The development comes after Iran and the P5+1 group reached an agreement over Tehran's nuclear program in Vienna last week.

Iranian media outlets referred to CMA CGM as the third largest container company in the world.

The container ship, named Andromeda, is 363 meters long and is able to carry 11,500 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) of containers, Idani said.

Based on a timetable, the container ship will load and unload as much as 900 TEU of cargo at the terminal No. 2 of the Shahid Rajaei Port.

Nearly 85 percent of Iran's container traffic passes through Shahid Rajaee Port. The port accounts for 55 percent of Iran's total exports and imports, and 70 percent of the country's transit.
