S. Korea to invest in Iran’s combined-cycle power plant project

A South Korean firm will invest in construction of a power plant in Iran.

The combined cycle power plant with capacity of 600 MW will be constructed in Iran’s south eastern city of Bafq in Yazd Province, IRNA news agency reported July 5.

Over $500 million will be invested in the project by Daelim, a leading construction company in South Korea.

The area for power plant is handed over to the South Korean party and the construction operations will start soon, according to the report.

Iran’s electricity generation stood at 286 billion kilowatts hour (kWh) over the last fiscal year (ended March 20).

The country’s nominal power generation capacity stands at 76,832 MW.
