Although two giant engine oil producers of Total and Shell have official representatives in Iran, counterfeit products under the giant brands are supplied in the country, a market expert told Trend.
“Total and Shell are supplying their engine oil in the Iranian market. The main problem regarding their activity in the market is the issue of counterfeit products. Some underground networks are currently producing and supplying fake engine oil in the domestic market under the brand of the giant producers,” Abbas Samavati, former head of Iran's tire and engine oil association told Trend.
Total's engine oil reaches Iran in two ways - first through Dubai and the second through its official representative in the Islamic Republic, namely Bahram Company, he said,
Pars Oil Company, headquartered in Tehran, officially supplies Shell engine oil across the country, Samavati added.
