Iran plans to export nanotechnology products to Asian markets

Iran targets to export nanotechnology products to Asian markets, Ali Beitollahi, an official with Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council (INIC), said.

Beitollahi, who heads the Working Group for International Affairs at INIC, said that Iran has recently started cooperation with Indonesia in this regard, Mehr news agency reported May 21.

The official added that Tehran plans to establish an export base in Indonesia for its nanotechnology products.

Beitollahi further said that the Islamic Republic eyes to secure a 2 percent share from the global nanotechnology market.

Iran has so far exported its nano products to over 45 countries, he said, adding that many countries are interested to cooperate with Iran in this regard.

The official said that China is among the countries that has good cooperation with Iran in terms of nanotechnology.

The Iranian government has been attaching high significance to nanotech as a science-based activity and a pillar of the country’s economic progress for the coming decades.

There are 257 companies active in this field, 33 percent of which working on nanomaterials. These companies have manufactured 376 different products using the nontechnology, showing that this is a field with huge economic and practical advantages. Reportedly there are over 28,000 nanotechnology experts in the country.

The Iranian officials in 2016 said that Iran’s science ranking had improved to 6th outrunning Japan and following China, the US, India, South Korea and Germany.
