The Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Iran extended the voting time for the parliamentary and the Assembly of Experts elections by two hours, IRNA news agency reported on Feb. 26.

Thus, the voting will end at 20:00 local time (GMT +3:30).

At 08:00 today, Iranians started voting to elect 290 members of the parliament, and 88 members of the Assembly of Experts.

Some 4,844 candidates are competing, while about 55 million Iranians are eligible to vote. Each nominee should get at least 25 percent of votes in his constituency, otherwise the second round of elections is held a month after the results of the first round.
