Yukiya Amano, the head of the global nuclear watchdog the IAEA, has expressed interest in visiting Iran this month, Iranian nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi, said.

Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), has said that the Islamic Republic welcomes the decision by the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano to visit the country, Tasnim news agency reported.

Earlier on December 6, Reuters citing a confidential IAEA report, said that Iran has shipped 11 tons of heavy water abroad to bring its stock back under a limit set by its landmark nuclear deal with major world powers.

The reports regarding Iran’s nuclear program came amid concerns over the US President-elect Donald Trump’s approach towards the last year’s nuclear deal.

Trump has described the deal as “the worst deal ever negotiated”.
