At least 10 Iraqi soldiers were killed and 30 injured Thursday in back-to-back explosions in the city of Tikrit, north of Baghdad, according to police, dpa reported.
They said that the soldiers were queueing up to collect their salaries when a bomb exploded, followed by another caused by a suicide bomber in central Tikrit.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blasts.
Violence in Iraq had steadily dropped after Sunni-Shiite bloodshed had peaked in 2006, but bombings and attacks are now becoming a nearly daily event around the country.
