Supreme court orders travel ban on Iraq's vice president

Iraq's supreme court has ordered a travel ban on Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi and several of his security guards, state television reported Monday without specifying a reason dpa reported

Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki on Sunday accused members of al-Hashimi's security staff of involvement in a bombing outside parliament, which he said had targeted him.

Three members of al-Hashimi's security guards were detained on suspicion of involvement in terrorism operations, Baghdad's security chief Qasem Atta told state television Monday.

The allegations by the Shiite Muslim premier against staff of the Sunni Muslim al-Hashimi comes amid fears of a deterioration in the security situation once US troops withdraw after nine-years after the 2003 invasion of the county.
