(dpa) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel called on Russia Tuesday to vote for a reform of the European Court of Human Rights.

Merkel told European parliamentarians in Strasbourg that she hopes Russia's State Duma (parliament) ratifies the reform protocol.

Moscow, one of the 47 members of the Council of Europe, has so far not ratified a reform aimed at speeding up the court's work.
